Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy’s ambitious plans to provide 1.16 lakh government jobs for the unemployed took a hit as the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commis-sion (APPSC) has failed to release the results of various recruitment exams so far.
The exams were conducted a few months ago and the APPSC, though ready with the results, is not in a position to release them. The differences between officials and members of the APPSC led to the postponement of results.
While the government wants interviews to be abolished for all posts, barring Group-I, to keep a check on irregularities, the members are insisting on the contrary — interviews should be continued.
Unless a majority of members give the nod for the announcement of results, the APPSC cannot release them.
This has come as a blow to the unemployed who spend thousands of rupees on coaching classes to appear in the public services exam and are now awaiting the results and a jobs to follow.
The candidates had even approached the Chief Minister several times to come to their aid over the last three months, but they did not get more than verbal assurances from him on early announcement of results.
Even the government is in a helpless situation over this issue since the APPSC is a “constitutional body” and it can’t enforce any decision or initiate action against its members.
