‘We are not worried about facing spin’

Yuvraj Singh better known for his batting heroics scalped 5/94 to expose England’s weakness against spin bowling again but the visitors strike bowler James Anderson felt there was no concern in the team even after conceding six wickets to spinners of the total nine that fell in their practice game against India A.

“Spinners are going to take wickets on this wicket especially on Day Three. Our batsmen did their job,” Anderson said. Yuvraj took three wickets on Thursday with his left arm slow bowling to add to his two on Wednesday.

The England speedster was satisfied with the outcome of the match. “Two hundreds and a fifty each from top order batsmen and lower order batsman are good enough. That’s how you win matches in Test cricket.

“We had a pretty good practice and adjusted well to the conditions. Bowlers got a decent bowling and our batters got decent hit in the middle. Cook led by example and Samit complimented him well,” he added.

Anderson hoped that Finn recovers in time but said they have other bowlers as well to try. “We will like Steven to be fit in time but we have (Stuart) Broad and (Graham) Onions waiting for their turn,” he said.

The Lancashire player praised Indian fringe batsmen like Manoj Tiwary, Abhinav Mukund and Rahane. “They played well in familiar conditions. It was a good batting wicket and they made better use of it,” Anderson said.

“Yuvraj bowled very well. In the World Cup (2011) also he bowled really well,” said Ajinkya Rahane who struck 54 in second innings.

Rahane who will play for Mumbai in Ranji game from Friday said he won’t mind playing without a break. “It is good for players like me to play lots of matches. I was disappointed after missing out in the first innings and determined to bat well in second innings. I will carry this confidence into Ranji match,” he said.
