Adi wants Rani to be asocial

Film promotion on social networking sites is but a norm in Bollywood these days. Even actors like Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi who are making a comeback after a long sabbatical have taken to it rather gracefully but a much younger Rani Mukherji doesn’t seem to have warmed up to the concept yet.

The reason? “I am technologically challenged and prefer promoting my films the old-fashioned way. Besides, the media does a fabulous job of keeping the audience updated about a star’s life and I wouldn’t want to take that away from them,” says the sarcastic Bong beauty.
While that is her explanation, a little birdie tells us that there’s more to the Twitter aversion than mere technological backwardness. It is apparently beau Adiya Chopra who insists that Rani stays away from social media.
“There has always been intense speculation about the romance between Aditya and Rani. Aditya believes that social media platforms will only further intrude into their privacy since questions regarding their relationship will be inevitable from Rani’s fans. Adi has always believed in maintaining a low profile and would like the same to be the case for Rani. We are talking about a guy who is so media shy that he doesn’t even promote his own films. So being accessible to the world on a social media platform either for himself or his better half is absolutely out of the question,” says a source close to the director.
