Delhiites expressed anguish after the cooking gas price was hiked on Saturday by `11.42 per cylinder following the government’s decision to raise commission paid to LPG dealers. The petroleum ministry on Friday hiked the commission paid to LPG dealers from `25.83 per cylinder to `37.25.
A subsidised LPG cylinder will now cost `410.42 in Delhi compared to `399 being paid now by the consumers.
Many citizens said that if the prices of essential commodities and fuel are revised every now and then, it would be hard for them to survive.
Ramesh Tiwari, a government employee, said, “The government should realise the need to rollback prices, otherwise it will collapse in the upcoming elections.”
Homemakers too expressed their anguish. Poonam Kumar, a housewife, said, “It is unfair to hike the prices of essential commodities and LPG every now and then. A middle class person has responsibilities over his head, and in addition to this, he has to save for the future. In this scenario, it appears almost impossible to maintain a quality living these days.” And it appears that the situation will further worsen, she added.
Priyanka Chabbra, a working woman said, “We work all day to earn our bread, and when it comes to cooking, the LPG gets pricey.”
After petrol and diesel prices touched the sky, now this another LPG price hike will make things worse, said Kritika Malhotra.
