Twin low intensity bomb blasts hit a CD market in Pakistan’s eastern city of Lahore on Saturday wounding four people and creating havoc in the area, the police said.
The police said the target of the blasts was one of the busiest music and CD markets in the city centre’s Hall Road.
Shopkeepers in the area said they had received threatening letters for selling Western movies and “objectionable CDs” from unknown persons describing the business as “dirty”.
“Four people have been wounded in these two blasts. The target was the CD and music market,” Rafiullah, a police officer at the site told AFP.
Sajjad Bhutta, the city’s top administrative official, told reporters at the scene that the bombs were timed devices.

Sharif: Pervez and Zardari are friends
Islamabad, June 26: Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) chief Nawaz Sharif on Saturday said that President Asif Ali Zardari and former military dictator Pervez Musharraf enjoy friendly relations.
“We noticed harmony between Pervez Musharraf and President Zardari. Accordingly, the dictator was accorded the safe exit abroad (after removal from power in 2008),” Mr Sharif said. Addressing a public gathering in Sialkot, he said the nation wants the dictators to be dragged to the dock, reports our Pakistan correspondent. “We want the government to take action against violators of the Constitution”, the PML-N chief said.

30 held with Qaeda links in Yemen
Aden, June 26: Security forces in Yemen’s port of Aden have arrested 30 people during a two day hunt for suspected Al Qaeda operatives behind an attack on an intelligence building, a security official and the defence ministry said.
Operations would continue after security forces swept door-to-door through Aden’s Saada area on Friday seeking out suspected militants, the defence ministry said in a statement.
Yemen has accused Al Qaeda of the attack on last Saturday in which militants in military uniform raided the police intelligence building, killing seven security officers, three women and a seven-year-old boy, and freeing several detainees. —Reuters

China bans PLA from blogging
Beijing, June 26: The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has banned Chinese armymen from using blogs on the Internet to protect the servicemen from “online traps” and ensure data confidentiality.
PLA Internal Administration Regulations which came into force on June 15, prohibited soldiers from creating website, homepage, or blog on the Internet. The revised regulations also banned soldiers from issuing “longly hearts” and job hunting advertisements on mass media.
“It means soldiers cannot open blogs on the Internet no matter he or she does it in the capacity of a soldier or not,” a political commissioner said. —PTI
