Justice R. Subhash Reddy of the AP High Court on Wednesday directed the Osmania General Hospital authorities to admit a 78-year-old advocate, E.D. Nathan, into the hospital. The judge was dealing with a writ petition filed by Mr Nathan, a resident of Himayatnagar, who has nobody to look after him after his wife died, and needed hospitalisation. Mr Nathan was refused admission nor was an ambulance sent for him. Moved by the man's plight, the judge directed Osmania General Hospital to send the ambulance, admit him and treat him. After the orders were passed the petitioner's counsel was informed by the hospital authorities that they had no ambulance at the Hospital. They admitted Mr Nathan, but with no one with him it could be difficult to treat him as an inpatient, they said.
Report on temple condition sought
Justice L. Narasimha Reddy of the AP High Court on Wednesday made it clear that the temple of Vakulamatha at Tirumala had to be rebuilt. While dealing with a plea by R.V.V. Krishna Rao of Chittoor, the judge expressed his anguish at the authorities' failure to protect the temple from the damages caused by stone quarrying adjacent to it. According to the petitioner, Vakulamatha is believed to be the mother of Lord Venkateswara. The judge sought a report on the condition of the temple, with orders being passed thereafter.
