The high court on Thursday directed the State government and BBMP to file a status report regarding means and methods of disposal of garbage after segregation of waste at source. The court also orally asked BBMP to clarify on the alleged nexus between corporators and garbage contractors.
Observing that landfills are a temporary measure, the HC directed the state to approve tenders for setting up of automated solid waste units and to act strict against non-segregation of waste by imposing fines. The court sought a status report to be filed in a week and adjourned the matter to October 9.
