Computerisation of entire courts in three years: Khurshid

Union Minister for Law Salman Khurshid on Saturday said all courts in the country will get computerised in the next three years as part of steps to improve justice delivery system.

"Computerisation is a major priority. In the next three years, all courts in the country will get computerised," Khurshid said while addressing the valedictory function of the bicetenary celebrations of the district court and bar association of Thiruvananthapuram here on Saturday.

"We have a commitment that we will make a very significant difference to the justice delivery in the next three years. We have a justice delivery mission which is working closely with the Chief Justice of India and chief justices of High Courts of the country."

"We also have a special mission for clearing pendency," he said.
Khurshid said innovative steps like the launching of All India Judicial Service would help solve to some extent the complaints about capable youngsters hestitating to join judicial services.

It would also help check the present flow of bright law graduates to the corporate sector and attract them to judicial services, he said.

"I think we will come closer to people in terms of being able to deliever justice. It is very important for litigants to understand what the judge has finally pronounced," the minister said.

Sashi Tharoor, MP, who was present, urged the Centre to take immediate steps to set up a High Court bench in the Kerala capital, a long pending demand of legal fraternity here.

He said Kerala was one of the three Indian states which did not have the high court bench in the capital.

Kerala High Court acting Chief Justice Manjula Chellur said it was important that the prime concern of judicial system should be quick delivery of justice to people.
