Water supply and sanitation minister Laxman Dhoble speaking on the incident of the alleged attack on him for his controversial comments on rape victims denied that any such thing took place. He said that the entire incident was cooked up by his rivals.
The minister who did not react all this while, on Tuesday said that he was waiting for evidence to prove that the news published in the media was wrong. “There were no women present at the meeting, just 25 hired people who started shouting slogans against me. I got the original recording of the incident only this week. I can now deny the incident with proof,” he said.
The minister went on to allege that it was a senior leader from his community, Eknath Awhad who was behind the entire incident.
The minister was in the news last week after allegedly being assaulted by women, who were upset over his remarks that protests and demonstration by rape victims would not yield any results. He had advised that a rape victim should educate her children properly to make them judges and able lawyers rather than holding protests and demonstrations to get justice. It was reported that after the alleged speech, a slipper was hurled at the minister who was then manhandled by an infuriated mob, comprising women.
Mr Dhoble maintained that all he said was youngsters from the community should have a good career, become lawyers, get a reputation in the legal field and even become judges.
“If a case of an atrocity on any woman, they should not spare the culprit.
They should impart justice in this manner, instead
of carrying out morchas and andolans. If they can
do this, they would be truly fulfilling the dreams of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar who has asked the dalits to be “shasankarti jamat”, the rulers,” he said.
