A day after the shocking incident in which one kid died and her brother was seriously injured when they fell from a three storey building at SR Nagar, police suspect that the kids had attempted suicide by jumping from the building’s terrace. Eyewitnesses told police that the children were seen going to the terrace and jumping from there, Sanjeevareddy nagar inspector S. Prabhakar said. However, the police is yet to reach a conclusion.
The inspector said all angles including murder, would be investigated. “Once the injured kid Sai Shiva Manoj is able to talk, we would get a clear picture,” Prabhakar said. Police said that one of the eyewitnesses, Mukesh, a Class 10 student who lives in the same building from which the kids jumped, saw the kids going up to the terrace. “He noticed that the deceased Sai Nikitha, 11, and Sai Shiva Manoj, 9, were crying while going up the stairs. So, we suspect that if the kids tried to commit suicide, it was due to harassment by their parents,” Prabhakar said. The children’s mother, Naga Lakshmi, had remarried four years ago after the death of her first husband, Srinivas. She and her present husband, M. Ravi, a financier, used to quarrel frequently, sources said.
