The police claimed to have recovered documents related from the house of industrialist Anil Nanda while questioning him in connection with the murder of his driver Janeshwar. Mr Nanda has denied any involvement in the murder.
Asked whether there was a possibility of Mr Nanda being arrested, a senior police official said, “So far we don’t have concrete evidence to prove his involvement (if any) in the case. We are building a case and investigations are going in the right direction.”
Meanwhile, Mr Yogesh Sharma, Janeshwar’s brother, claimed he had received a “threat” call, allegedly from Dheeraj Bhallani’s phone on Friday after Yogesh accused Mr Nanda of being involved in the murder. “I got a call on Friday at around 6:45 pm from a man who refused to identify himself. He threatened me to stay away from the case or face the consequences. I informed the PCR and a case was registered,” Yogesh said. Janeshwar, who had voluntarily quit the Army in 2004 and has been associated with Mr Nanda since, had reportedly written to his brother about “immoral activities” taking place and that there was a threat to his life. “These rich people are indulging in immoral activities of abusing children for sexual pleasure. Illegal business is taking place at his house and I have become a witness to their activities. They want to kill me,” Yogesh quoted his brother as alleging. The police said it will get a file related to the 2004 death of another person, Manohar, who worked as a domestic help with Nanda, from a city court, which may provide new revelations.
