The Emerging Kerala meet here from September 12 to 14 will be taking forward the state government’s policy of ‘development with care’ and the wealth created would be used for the welfare of all in the state, said chief minister Oommen Chandy.
He told a meeting convened by the Kerala chapter of the Confederation of Indian industry, in association with different trade and industry bodies on Tuesday, that change was imperative and conditions in the state like investor-friendly labour would be highlighted during the meet.
The state had the least number of mandays lost. A big problem was power shortage and steps were being taken to surmount this, he said.
Industries minister P.K. Kunhalikutty said that only those industries that would cause the least harm to the environment would be promoted. Studies had pointed to roughly 60 per cent of this wealth coming in as taxes.
Those who took part in the preparatory meeting included industries additional chief secretary V.Somasundaran, KSIDC managing director Alkesh Kumar Sharma, CII Kerala region chairman V.K. Mathews, district collector P.A.Sheikh Pareeth and representatives of TiE Kerala, Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kerala Travel Mart Society and Kerala Management Association.
