A city based NGO has filed a writ petition before the Supreme Court, pleading to initiate a proper investigation in all the bomb blasts occurred across the country since 2002.
Jamiyat Ulema-e-Maharashtra, in its petition alleged that the investigating agencies that took over the invest-igation in the blast cases, that rocked the country since 2002, have without investigating the matters randomly picked up Muslim men and have slapped anti-national charges against them.
The petitioner pleaded to the apex court to constitute a committee headed by retired Supreme Court judge and consisting of some competent investigating officers and experts in the field of cellular and computer technology, to further investigate
all bomb blast cases occuring since 2002.
The petitioner further pleaded to the court to issue directions to the Union of India to initiate criminal or departmental action against errant police officers who deliberately did not pursue the important clues found during investigations only to protect the real culprits (Hindu terror outfits) and who intentionally implicated innocent Muslims by fabricating false evidence against them. The NGO’s secretary, Gulzar Azmi, who is the petitioner in the case said, “The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has always investigated these blast cases with lots of discrepancies. They randomly pick up our young men and claim them to be anti-national. The arrested men from our community undergo various hardships in police custody. The ATS has always fabri-cated evidence and has always falsely implicated Muslim men in blast cases. However, they have never pointed out fingers at Hindu terror outfits in the country who are the allegedly the masterminds behind these blasts.” The Supreme Court on August 31 will pass an order on the petition.
