The Delhi government’s urban development department on Friday came out with revised instructions for rational and scientific utilisation of MLALAD funds. “The new instructions will facilitate early execution of works by the agencies,” stated urban development and finance minister Dr A.K. Walia.
Dr Walia further stated that the scope of permissible works has also been expanded to cover almost all spheres of development in Assembly segments. The urban department officials further confirmed that the MLAs will continue to be sanctioned MLALAD fund of Rs 2 crore per MLA every year which will be divided into mandatory and discretionary funds of Rs 1 crore each.
“The mandatory fund of Rs 70 crores per annum will be directly released to MCD, NDMC, Delhi Cantonment Board (DCB) for execution of developmental works as proposed by MLAs of the respective Assembly constituencies. Rs 67 crores will be released to the MCD, Rs 2 crore to NDMC and Rs 1 crore to DCB,” stated Delhi government officials.
The urban department officials also added that the remaining amount of Rs 70 crores per annum will be sanctioned as the discretionary fund through the urban development department for execution of developmental works by various executing agencies, namely MCD, NDMC, DISCOMS, DJB and others like health, DDA, DCB, CPWD etc against the recommendations of MLAs after obtaining detailed cost estimates and layout plans from the concerned executing agencies.
