Out of the 152 colleges that submitted financial statements seeking fee hikes, 29 colleges had submitted them to the Supreme Court, while another 133 colleges had submitted financial statements to the Admissions and Fee Regulatory Committee. All the top colleges figure in the list of 29 colleges and their fees will be in the range of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh. The state government has to devise college-wise fees for the other 133 colleges, which submitted details to the AFRC.
For these colleges, the fees are expected to be in the range of Rs 75,000 to Rs 90,000. The remaining 550 colleges, which did not submit any details, will have common fees of Rs 50,200. This is the average of the existing fees for merit and management quota seats. Normally, students opt for the best colleges during Eamcet counselling every year. However, now they need to factor in affordability as well. Though students may be eligible for seats in top colleges based on their merit, it is the matter of financial muscle that will finally count.
