Embarrassment for Pakistan on the contentious issue of state support to terrorists involved in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks is far from over as the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has decided to file a supplementary chargesheet in this case once it takes top Lashakar-e-Tayyaba commander Abu Jundal into custody.
Highly-placed sources in the NIA said that Jundal has made some important disclosures regarding the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, like the involvement of top Pakistani Army and government officials, complete state support for the incident and that even the Karachi control room from where Jundal and his associates were in touch with the terrorists in Mumbai also being set up with government support.
Thus, NIA officials claim that some of these crucial details will get reflected in the supplementary chargesheet, nailing Pakistan’s lies on the 26/11 terror attacks. Incidentally, the NIA has already chargesheeted two serving Pakistani Army officers, chief of Jamaat-ud-Dawa Hafiz Saeed and David Coleman Headley in the first chargesheet.
“Jundal has also given important details regarding his meetings with Hafiz Saeed and Headley in the run-up to the 26/11 terror attacks. These are new developments and need to be investigated further. So, we will file a supplementary chargesheet in this case,” a senior NIA official said. Jundal, as of now, is in the custody of the Mumbai ATS following which the NIA plans to question the Lashkar operative.
An NIA team had also questioned Headley in the US.
Importantly, New Delhi will not let go of any opportunity to embarrass Pakistan at the international forum on its support to the 26/11 conspirators. Thus, the NIA has been given an “in principle approval” to go ahead with further investigations into the 26/11 case.
