Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal has told his interrogators that Ajmal Amir Kasab was the sharpest among all the young recruits of Lashkar-e-Tayyaba.
Jundal said that Kasab was the only one who could identify him as an Indian during the first meeting.
Jundal had trained the 10 terrorists in Hindi for months before the 26/11 terror raids.
“During his interrogation, Jundal said that among the many recruits of the LeT, Kasab pointed out in the first session itself that he was an Indian. Jundal also said that of all the people he trained there, Kasab was a quick learner and was very active, not only in physical training, but also quickly picked up on his Hindi lectures,” said a source.
Jundal told his interrogators that he was shocked when Kasab asked him whether he was an Indian. “Jundal said that his nationality was kept a secret in the terror camps and he wondered how Kasab could make him out as an Indian. He said that he could not figure out whether it was his dialect or mannerisms that created the suspicion in Kasab’s mind,” the source added.
Meanwhile, senior crime branch sources said that Jundal first met his recruiter — an LeT operative — in 2005 at Hotel Tawa in Aurangabad.
