Three young boys, belonging to a rural and low-income background, have prepared a two-and-a-half-hour audio-visual programme that gives easy answers to questions frequently asked in competitive examinations.
The audio-visual presentation explains the answers through visuals, making is easy for students to understand and answer the complex questions in subjects like physics, chemistry, biology, geography and history.
The boys behind this initiative are Amit Patel, Manoj Patel and Jai Prakash, all students of Class 12 in the Mahatma Gandhi Inter College in Gorakhpur district.
Amit and Manoj, both brothers, and Jai Prakash belong to the Pakdi village in Maharajganj district and their fathers, Dayanand Patel and Guddan Gupta, are farmers. The boys have been staying together since the past three years to purse their studies.
“We are all movie lovers and would watch films together whenever we have time. While studying, we often found that we could not understand the questions or their answers and had to learn by the rote method. One day, we were discussing an old film and we realised that we even remembered the dialogues. Then it hit upon us that we could recall the scenes and dialogues because we had ‘seen’ them and not heard about them,” says Amit Patel.
It was then that the three boys decided to make an audio visual presentation regarding the frequently asked questions in their syllabus. For this, they floated their own “Aryan Educational Trust” and began working on the presentation which has 2,000 questions and their answers in a simplified visual format.
”We did not have the technical expertise to make the presentation and for this, we had to spend `20,000. Our parents encouraged and gave us financial support while our teachers also kept advising us form time to time,” says Jai Prakash.
The presentation which contains questions and answers from various subjects, is now being readied for a commercial release and talks are on with some IT companies in this regard. Amit, Manoj and Jai Prakash now plan to take their initiative to the next level by preparing a similar presentation for those taking the competitive examinations.
“We want learning to be a fun experience and the students should also understand what they are being taught in the classroom,” says Amit.
Any wonder then that the boys are now being called the “Three Idiots” of Maharajganj?
