Agaiya Sharma of the Air Force Public School (Subroto Park), Kartikeya Swarup from Delhi Public School, Noida, and CRPF Public School’s (Rohini) Amit Dhankhar were adjudged as the Airtel Rising Stars at the Delhi leg of India’s largest Under-16 football talent hunt, that concluded at the Dr. Ambedkar Stadium in the capital on Tuesday.
The trio were selected on criteria based on the Manchester United scouting guidelines. They players were also selected based on their physical and mental strengths, expertise in position play, and technical acumen.
The three Delhiites will now join players from 16 other centres to participate in the six-day final selection trial, scheduled to take place in Bengaluru in September.
These players will join 45 others, who will be divided into four teams of 12 each and will be tested on all parameters before 12 of the best players are chosen to travel to Manchester United for a week and to train alongside the United Academy team.
