Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi here on Tuesday said that the national media was projecting only negative side of Northeast.
Asserting that the incident of molestation was a very unfortunate and condemnable act, Mr Gogoi told reporters that a section of the “national media” was trying to project this unfortunate incident in such a way as if the entire society was involved and approved molestation. Mr Gogoi further said, “It was an isolated incident and the Assamese society is very cultured and civilised. People of the state are hurt by this unfortunate act of a mob which could have been prevented had some one intervened on time. One cannot approve or justify such horrifying act but facts remain that such incidents are taking place everywhere, be it Delhi or Mumbai. We need to prevent it at any cost.”
Indicating that the prime accused of this incident will be in police net very soon, Mr Gogoi said, “I have signed the paper today for appointment of police commissioner in Guwahati.”
