A city court has granted bail to three accused in the 2011 Delhi University’s Medical Entrance Test rigging case after the Delhi police failed to file a chargesheet since their arrest on April 2.
Special CBI judge Anu Malhotra, while observing that the three accused, Dheeraj Kumar, Shailender Pandey and Bedi Ram have already served more than 60 days since their arrest, without a chargesheet being filed by the CBI, released them on bail.
“The two accused persons Dheeraj Kumar Upadhyay and Shailender Pandey are allowed to be released on bail,” said the judge.
Accused Bedi Ram, who filed a bail application separately, was also granted bail by the court. The court has asked the trio to submit a bail bond of `1 lakh each with two sureties.
The accused were allegedly involved in arranging candidates for procuring the DU medical entrance test papers for `15 lakhs to Rs 20 lakhs.
Earlier, the CBI had told the court that the accused could help in revealing the entire conspiracy in which test papers were given before hand to the appearing candidates at an ashram near Gurgaon in Haryana.
