Gone are the days when women had sole claim over beauty treatments — today, men are increasingly experimenting with beauty options as well! Hollywood actor Tom Cruise’s recent confession that he doesn’t use Botox but is rather fond of a facial treatment that contains nightingale excrement to maintain his looks, has sent Delhi men scurrying for similar beauty selections.
Vikas Kutariyar a businessman, who takes a facial worth over Rs 7,000 every month, now plans to ask for a similar treatment on his next visit. “I am sure they will introduce it here very soon. I wouldn’t mind paying a bit more to get the same facial that Tom Cruise gets,” he says.
According to Dr Geetika Mittal Gupta, dermatologist and medical director, Vikas is not the only one who is genuinely interested in testing different beauty products. “The new age man is more aware of his looks. He is embracing more and more cosmetic procedures and products with an open mind,” she says.
Dr Indu Tolani, dermatologist and cosmo physician, says time has changed for sure. “Unlike earlier, men make a beeline to cosmetic clinics today. More and more young men are going for regular facials and the older ones come in for injectable filler sessions. They have understood that looks are as important as their careers,” she says.
The matter is no longer limited to regular facials, trims, pedicures or manicures; men have preferences about how they look. “Some men prefer a few lines on their faces, so they never go in for Botox. Of late, they have started using serums that smoothen the creases on their faces for up to six hours. A 2 ml bottle of such a serum starts at Rs 4,000 onwards,” says Indu.
Adds Dr Geetika, “There are various peptide and even snake venom protein serums which clear out lines and give the user a fresher look instantly.”
