A 23-year-old Indian man, who has been accused for the murder of a 32-year-old woman, has been remanded to reappear in the Tauranga district court on June 10.
The woman, also believed to be an Indian, was found dead in a house in Otumoetai, a Tauranga suburb, on Sunday evening, and now police are searching for her 18-month-old daughter Anna Sangha.
The man was asked to reappear by the Manukau district court, stuff.co.nz reports. Western Bay of Plenty Area commander inspector Mike Clement is asking all residents around Otumoetai to search their properties for any sign of the toddler. “We also can’t rule out the possibility that Anna may be being looked after by friends or relatives, and if so, we ask them to contact us urgently.”
The dead woman’s name is not being released until family overseas have been informed of her death.

Man’s bomb comment delays flight in NY
Ronkonkoma, United States: An airport official says a man “made a comment about a bomb” on a flight from Chicago to New York’s MacArthur Airport, forcing passengers to deboard as authorities inspected the aircraft.
No explosive device was found. The man was taken into custody after the last afternoon’s incident on a Southwest Airlines flight.
MacArthur Airport commissioner Teresa Rizzuto says charges are still pending. She says the suspect made the comment to a flight attendant before the plane landed. The flight was making a scheduled stop at the Long Island airport before leaving for West Palm Beach, Florida. It continued on later. —AP

Indian, 61, found dead in Australia
Melbourne: A 61-year-old Indian man was on Monday found dead under an overpass with stab wounds.
The father of two from Doncaster suburb, had been found next to parkland in the Koonung Creek reserve, near Estelle Street, Bulleen, on Sunday the Age reported quoting detective inspector Bernie Edwards on Monday. The inspector said the man lived on the other side of the bridge, which crosses the Eastern Freeway.
“We are still investigating how he got to the bottom of the bridge,” he said, adding blood has been found on the bridge, and police officials are scouring nearby parkland for any signs of a knife or sharp-edged weapon. It was particularly cold Sunday morning so there would have been few pedestrians in the area. —PTI
