Hamilton to break ‘McLaren’ tradition by demanding to keep Silverstone race-winning trophies

Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton will demand to be allowed to keep his Silverstone race-winning trophies in a 100 million pound showdown with McLaren over his new contract.

Breaking an age-old McLaren tradition by being allowed to keep every trophy he wins from next year, Hamilton could putting his future at the team, which gave him his Grand Prix break, in jeopardy.

Hamilton revealed he has never even seen the silverware he won on that glorious day in 2008 when he roared to victory in the lashing rain in front of his own British fans.

“Winning the British Grand Prix and getting that trophy, it’s the best trophy I have ever seen,” the Daily Mirror quoted Hamilton, as saying.

Despite having a long list of the greatest drivers in history in their cars, McLaren’s driving force Ron Dennis has never let any of them keep their podium trophies.

“I have not seen it since I won it because Ron keeps every trophy, which isn’t good and it definitely won’t be happening in the future,” he added.
