[1]Belligerent supporters of former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa followed up their resignations with a charge-sheet against Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda, handed over to general secretary in-charge of Karnataka, Dharmendra Pradhan. The BSY camp, looking increasingly sullen, look set to up the ante yet again on Sunday when they will meet to discuss the central BJP’s move to address their demand for change in leadership only by Tuesday July 3 when the party’s parliamentary board in New Delhi meets. A move, they see as a ploy by Mr Pradhan to buy time.
Mr Pradhan who met party general secretary Ananth Kumar late on Saturday night at a closed door session, added salt to the wound by asking the ministers who had quit on Friday to withdraw their resignation letters before the parliamentary board meets.
The demand saw an irate Mr Yeddyurappa abruptly walk out of a meeting with Mr Pradhan at his Dollar’s Colony residence, and refuse to see the trouble-shooter out. Mr Yeddyurappa also promptly ordered all legislators to a strategy session on Sunday where he is expected to hammer out a new course of action, amid intense speculation he would persuade more ministers to resign.
The nine rebel ministers have categorically told Mr Pradhan that until party central leaders take a firm decision on leadership change, they would not withdraw their resignations, sources close to Jagadish Shettar said. “There is no question of withdrawing resignation to the Cabinet if there is no change of leadership, we are firm in our stand regarding not to withdraw our resignation”, Mr. Shettar said. However, sources close to some of the ministers have told Deccan Chronicle that they had asked Mr Gowda not to forward their resignations to the Governor just yet.
