Toll for vehicles using Rajiv Gandhi Salai, known as IT Corridor or Old Mahabalipuram Road, has been hiked from July 1.
An official release said that the revised rates would be effective for two years. The toll for three-wheelers has largely been untouched while the rates have been hiked for all other vehicles.
The toll applies to the 20-km stretch, the first phase, running south from Madhya Kailash junction in Adyar up to Siruseri.
The state government has licensed IT Expressway Ltd, a subsidiary of the Tamilnadu Road Development Company Ltd, to collect toll on the road for 30 years from July 1, 2006, to June 30, 2036.
The tolls originally fixed in 2006 are hiked by 10 per cent once in two years. However, toll collection started from December 15, 2008.
