After 44 detainees in the Juhu rave party tested positive for consumption of drugs, the police has renewed its efforts to identify and apprehend the peddlers who supplied the drugs to the party.

“We will soon be summoning detainees who have tested positive to the Juhu police station for inquiries. They will be questioned to find out who had supplied the drugs to them,” said a senior police officer.
According to police officials, the detainees who have tested positive for consumption of cannabis and MDMA include actor Apoorva Agnihotri, fashion designer Rocky S and actor Angad Bedi.
The identity of the peddler continues to remain a mystery even one month after the rave party was busted at the elite Oakwood Hotel in Juhu. The police had arrested Oakwood director Vishay Handa, who has also tested positive for drug consumption, for organising the rave. However, persistent questioning did not yield any results, the police said.
The police had also scanned the CCTV footage of the hotel to see if any known drug-peddling offenders could be seen,
but drew a blank there as well.
“We will start the process of summoning the detainees to the police station for inquiries from Monday,” said Pratap Dighavkar, deputy commissioner of police, Zone 9.
The police had got signed undertakings from all the detainees for complete cooperation with the police proceedings in the future, before releasing them after taking their blood and urine samples. While they won’t have to spend time in prison, the police nevertheless hopes that questioning them, will lead it to the peddlers.
The lack of clues about the peddlers has also worked against the police as certain sections that had criticised the raid, harped on the same point. Many alleged that the police had swooped down upon a “peaceful party”; even those detained claimed that they were being targeted due to their celebrity status.
On May 20, the west region police had swooped down on Oakwood Hotel, detaining 92 people in all and confiscating MDMA and cannabis. Invites for the party were sent out via social networking websites and attendees included many Bollywood celebrities as well. The police is now awaiting medical reports of the remaining detainees, which include cricketers Rohit Sharma and Wayne Parnell.
