A fire which broke out in the Excel advertisement agency office at Ameerpet X road, gutted property worth about Rs 15 lakh. According to fire officials, the fire control room in the city received a fire alert at 1.30 pm. At 1.35 pm, a fire tender rushed to the spot and was joined later by another fire tender from Filmnagar fire station. Still, it took more than an hour to bring the blaze under control. In the fire, a total of fourteen computers, four digital cameras and office furniture were gutted.
According to the owner, the total loss would be around Rs 15 lakh. The fire engulfed two floors of Pushpalaya building. The firemen succeeded in preventing it from spreading to other parts of the building. The Sanathnagar station fire officer Sri Ram Reddy said the fire might have originated from a short circuit. “However, investigation will reveal the exact cause of the fire,” said Mr Sri Ram Reddy. In another incident, a bus of Kaveri Travels caught fire at Maithrivanam in Ameerpet. The fire subsequently spread to adjacent buildings. Five fire tenders which were pressed into service were dousing the fire when reports last came in.
