The special court for CBI cases, on Friday, directed the CBI to deposit Rs 4.24 crore seized from Gali Janardhan Reddy and B.V. Sreenivas Reddy at the time of their arrest, in a fixed deposit in the name of the court at the State Bank of Hyderabad branch located on the court premises, for a period of three years.
The income-tax department had earlier filed a plea requesting the court to direct the CBI to hand over the amount to them.
The CBI objec-ted, stating that it was unclear to wh-om the money belon-ged, and also the leg-ality of the money was questionable.
