A comprehensive women’s safety bill, which ensures the safety and security of all women in the state round-the-clock, is in the pipeline and will be presented in the Assembly, said home minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan in Kochi on Friday.
He was speaking after inaugurating the ‘Safe Kochi, Secure Kochi’ review meeting to evaluate and plan the security measures of Kochi city at IMA Hall near Palarivattom on Friday.
The minister, who referred it as a path-breaking bill said it would uphold the dignity and privacy of every Malayali woman.
“The bill will be presented before the assembly soon. Before that, the details of the bill would be discussed with the women’s welfare organisations in state. This meeting would be held at Thiruvananthapuram on June 6,” he said.
At the valedictory function, Director general of police Jacob Punnoose said the Kerala police was planning to open identification bureaus in all police stations in state.
This was as an attempt to document the details of all the migrant labourers here. The minister also launched ‘Citizens for Security’ programme - aimed at roping in public for safety and security measures.
