The rift within the Opposition BJP in Rajasthan widened on Monday as a group of senior leaders, backed by the RSS, assembled at former BJP president Ramdas Agarwal’s residence and expressed concern over the situation.
“We sought action against those who defied the discipline,” said a senior saffron leader after the meeting. The Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly Vasundhara Raje made an appeal to her supporters to prevent from offering resignations.
According to sources, those who participated in the meeting included former state president Lalit Chaturvedi, former home minister Gulab Chand Kataria, deputy Leader of Opposition Ghanshyam Tiwari, former chief whip Mahavir Jain, former Rajya Sabha member Onkar Singh Lakhawat and state president Arun Chaturvedi.
