Causing a huge embarrassment to the industrial fraternity of the state as well as the state government, four members of the contingent from Ludhiana, which was touring China, were arrested in an anti-prostitution raid in Shanghai.
Embarrassed by the arrest, the state industry department is planning to take action against the arrested industrialists for bringing disrepute.
A group of 64 industrialists and entrepreneurs from the bicycle industry of Ludhiana, including some women members, went to Shanghai to understand the latest advancement in the bicycle industry at the international level.
However, four its members, along with an industrialist from Delhi and one from Turkey, were arrested in the anti-prostitution raid by the China police. Peeved by the whole incident, the Punjab cycle and association has come forward to teach their erring industrialist a lesson. The association is seeking action by the government against the peers so that such incident is not repeated in the future.
The industry department is waiting for the industrialist to return so that it can take proper action after listening to their side of the story.
