The Kochi bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) on Monday asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to maintain status quo on the transfer of two of its inspectors to Guwahati and Kolkotta who were transferred in connection with the Sampath custodial murder case.
K. George Joseph administrative member of the bench also asked the CBI not to insist that the officers join their new destinations till the final disposal of the case.
The court asked the CBI to submit their stand in the case.
The two cops moved CAT alleging that the transfer order was issued as part of the superior officers’ plans to exonerate two top IPS officers from the Sampath custodial murder case.
The CBI top cops have transferred the duo because of Haridath’s suicide note, the petitioners alleged.
The petitioners also alleged that the two cops arraigned as accused in the Sampath case are taking steps to completely whitewash the case.
Former CBI ASP P.G. Haridath committed suicide on March 15 and named four persons in his suicide note.
A special investigating team is currently probing the case.
The CBI recently transferred two of its inspectors - Unnikrishnan and Rajan - whose names were mentioned in the Haridath’s suicide note.
Unnikrishnan was transferred to Kolkata and inspector Rajan was transferred to Guwahati.
