A day after a country-made bomb exploded while it was being made inside a lodge at Kilpauk, police intensified search at lodges across the city and detained 710 people in a storming operation on Saturday night.
“Suganthan, a history sheeter from Thoothukudi who was making the bomb, lost six fingers with the accidental blast early on Friday morning. He is being treated for his injuries.
The other man who suffered injuries, Sathya, was lodged in prison after receiving treatment,” police noted.
Police added that out of the 710 detained, 68 were booked for drunken driving during Saturday night’s storming operation.
