[1]Former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, housing minister V. Somanna and BJP MLA C.T. Ravi, who were relieved after the Lokayukta police closed cases against them without filing charges in private complaints, are back to square one. The Lokayukta court on Friday rejected the ‘B’ reports, as the case closure reports are referred to, and ordered the Lokayukta police to reinvestigate the complaints.
The court also issued summons against Mr Somanna, his wife Shylaja, Mr Yeddyurappa and others, asking them to appear before it on April 30. The Lokayukta police submitted the ‘B’ report in March, giving them a clean chit in an alleged illegal land denotification case. Stating that the irregularities listed by the complainant could not be proved, the Lokayukta police had said that Mr Somanna was not aware that the 22 guntas of land he bought was under acquisition, nor did Mr Yeddyurappa receive any pecuniary gains for issuing the denotification order.
The complainant had alleged that Mr Yeddyurappa issued orders in 2009 to denotify the land in Naga Devanahalli to benefit an education trust owned by Ms Shylaja. Despite the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) issuing acquisition orders, the land on survey numbers 77 and 78 was bought by Ms Shylaja in 2004, he had charged. In Mr Ravi’s case, the Lokayukta police had cleared him of charges of abuse of official power, but recommended cancellation of sites allotted to his wife Pallavi. R. Devi Prasad of Chikmagalur had filed a private complaint against Mr Ravi, Ms Pallavi and others, alleging that they had secured allotment of civic amenity and residential sites in violation of rules.
