A child died during a fire which broke out in a Government hospital here on Wednesday and triggered a stampede, officials said.
The fire broke out in Government Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, where the patients and their attendants ran for safety leading to a stampede, they said.
The child was admitted in the ICU, where he was on oxygen support. Noticing the blaze, her mother pulled the oxygen mask and ran for safety but in the process the child died, they said.
It was not clear whether the kid, yet to be identified, was killed in the stampede or died because of some other problem, the officials. The fire was caused due to an electrical short circuit, they said, adding a probe was on in the incident.
