And now a fake PU question paper leak

It was a scam within a scam.

While question papers are being leaked galore, Saturday saw a fake question paper leak cause a scare among students, accustomed to often waking up to them lately.

Just hours before lakhs of II PUC science students were scheduled to appear for their Chemistry exam, two handwritten question papers began to circulate among them and were even shown on a few news channels.

But it turned out to be a false scare as the PU board denied the question paper leak saying the handwritten papers did not match the original.

Some of the students had by then already paid between Rs 200 and Rs 1,000 for the papers. It appeared to be a carefully planned operation to take advantage of the mood created by the recent spate of leaks and fool the students as SMSes were sent since Friday night about the "leaked papers" to the students, and some even received a few of the “leaked” questions on their mobile phones.

Saturday morning saw a gang in action, allegedly selling the two handwritten question papers.
“Many students came to the exam center holding these so-called leaked question papers. They say they got them from a gang. Although they were selling them openly, why didnt the police catch them?" asked a fed up student, Rahamth S R.

"First they managed to get original question papers leading to postponement of two exams and now they are cheating us with duplicate question papers,” observed another student, Sourabha H S, lamenting that students were now becoming soft targets for anti -social elements.

When contacted DCP (Crime) T.M.Krishnm Raju, confirmed that the "leaked" question papers were fake and warned students to be careful. The police had, however, received no complaint about them, he added.
