The Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) has decided to open border schools along the UP-Nepal border to check the mushroom growth of madrasas in the region.
The schools will be opened through a newly-floated outfit called “Seema Jagran Manch” that aims at encouraging greater interaction between people living along the border areas and the security forces deployed in the region.
The Seema Jagran Manch will oversee the construction of these schools that are also designed to ensure gainful employment to the youth living on the India side of the borders.
According to senior RSS leader Indresh Kumar, “Through the Seema Jagran Manch, we are conducting coaching camps in border areas to provide training to youths. We plan to create a network in the border areas, which would tip-off security forces on spotting any suspicious activity there and also provide employment for the local people.”
The idea is to create an “army of patriots” and check anti-national activity along the porous border areas. The madrasas that are mushrooming along the border areas are, apparently, on the target of the Seema Jagran Manch that believes that these are functioning as hubs of anti-national activities.
“There is unemployment in the areas and a lack of national pride among the younger generations. Both these issues are misused to advantage by certain forces and the youth gets trapped very easily,” the leader explained.
Apart from opening border schools, the RSS has also launched a “Raksha Bandhan” scheme under which the local residents are encouraged to tie rakhi on the jawans posted in border areas and develop a bond of affection.
