After reaching Big Bazaar at Ameerpet where his girlfriend Lavanya asked him to meet her, Bachu Satish was forcibly pushed into a car by the girl's father Yadaiah and his friend Rajeshwar Goud, who then sped towards Mulug.
The two throttled Satish to death and disposed the body at the hillocks of Kokkonda village. Later, they poured petrol and diesel on the body and set it alight. Two days later, they went back to the place and once again set the remains of the body on fire. Later, they took the remains in a plastic cover and disposed it in a nala near Qutubullapur. The cops recovered the remains.
Satish’s father, Shankaraiah, complained that though he had approached the cops several times, the Saroornagar police had claimed that they were busy with Assembly duties. “Both inspector Purnachandar Rao and SI Venkateswarlu angrily said that they were busy.
The inspector also got angry when I approached Cyberabad commissioner of police D. Tirumala Rao complaining about their negligence,” said Satish’s father. With no help coming from the cops, Mr Shankaraiah tried to trace his son by himself.
He collected Satish’s call details with the help of some friends in the CID. However, he learnt about his son’s affair with Lavanya only after going through his laptop and diary which he recovered from Bengaluru.
Of the five accused in the case, Lavanya was shown as absconding. She has been booked under Section 201 of IPC (causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender).
Though Satish's parents claimed that the cops didn't act promptly, Saroornagar ACP J. Amarender Reddy claimed that they had solved the case early. "State Human Rights Commission gave us a direction to submit a report on April 4, but we solved the case much in advance."
“Ten months back, Yadaiah had threatened Satish to stop meeting Lavanya,” said L.B. Nagar deputy commissioner of police S. Chandrasekhar Reddy, adding, "With Satish not willing to end his friendship with the girl, her parents decided to eliminate him and forced the girl to join their plan." The DCP, however, denied reports that the cops were under pressure from a minister to water down the case.
"We had questioned Lavanya many times but she had misled us by saying that Satish had gone to attend the marriage after meeting her,"' the DCP said. The police also said that she sent SMS to Satish's mobile simply to mislead the police and even called up twice to know whether Satish had been traced.
