A day after two people died in a car crash, a Delhi Police head constable was killed when a speeding car hit his motorbike past midnight on Tuesday in the latest in the spate of grave accidents Delhi has witnessed in February.
Here are some major accidents that took place during the month:
Feb 28, 2012: Delhi Police head constable Abhay Narayan Rai, 45, killed after his motorbike was hit by an unidentified, speeding vehicle around 12.55 a.m. Tuesday near Azad Ground, National Victor Public School in east Delhi's Madhu Vihar.
Feb 27, 2012: Two people, including the half-sister of Bollywood actor Fardeen Khan, were killed in a collision of two cars in south Delhi. Sonia Sethia, wife of business tycoon Rajinder Sethia, was returning to her New Friends Colony home from dinner at a friend's home in Gulmohar Park, when a Swift Dzire being driven at very high speed by Mohan Kumar, a technical officer at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) rammed into Sethia's Honda City car on August Kranti Marg. Sethia and Kumar died.
Feb 20, 2012: A 19-year-old boy Manish who used to clean cars, took the Swift Dzire car belonging to an under-secretary in the external affairs ministry for a ride with friends and mowed down two people in south Delhi early morning. The victims were Sultan Singh, 50, whose daughter was to get engaged that day and Raghu Verma Raja, in his 40s, who had come to the city from Bangalore to attend the ceremony.
Feb 19, 2012: A young south Delhi realtor, Anukool Rishi died when his over-speeding Lamborghini sportscar lost control and hit cyclist Kishan as it crashed into a bus-stop railing in south Delhi. Kishan may be paralysed for life, say doctors.
Feb 17, 2012: A 28-year-old Afghan, Qasim was burnt to death when the car he was driving caught fire after smashing into a road divider on the Rao Tula Ram (RTR) Road flyover at great speed.
