Vidya Balan may be busy quashing rumours of an impending Bengali wedding, but she admits that she does have a love affair with all things Bengali (and we aren’t just talking about Siddharth Roy Kapur). From her first director in B’town (Pradeep Sarkar), her first Hindi film (Parineeta), her favourite fashion designer (Sabyasachi Mukherjee) to her latest film (Kahaani), it seems Vidya simply cannot let go of the Bengali connection.
“Yes, there is a connection I feel with Bengalis,” says Vidya. “I’m sure I must have been one in my past life.” Vidya’s just finished shooting for a song in Kolkata and can’t stop raving about the experience. Bowled over by the warmth of the people, Vidya would smile every time someone addressed her as “Bidya”.
“I speak Bengali quite fluently and that helped me get into the skin of the character I play in Kahaani,” she says.
So do we construe this to mean she wouldn’t mind being a beautiful Bangla bride?
