With the minimum temperature on Saturday dipping to 5.1 degrees Celsius, four notches below average, it was the second coldest January 28 in Delhi in the last five years. More chill is in store with a further dip forecast on Sunday.
However, warm sun later came as a relief for the residents Saturday. While the maximum temperature was recorded at 21.7° Celsius which was normal for this time of the season, the humidity wavered between a high of 94 per cent and low of 38 per cent.
The India Meteorological Depart-ment (IMD) said the coldest January 28 was in 2008 when the minimum temperature was recorded at 2° Celsius. At 12° Celsius, 2007 was the warmest in the past five years. According to IMD officials, there will be a clear sky on Sunday after a misty morning.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 22° Celsius and 4° Celsius, respectively on Sunday. Last month saw the minimum temperature come down to 2.9° Celsius on Christmas morning, the lowest of the season so far.
