Trust Vidya Balan to walk that extra mile for the characters she essays in her films. After receiving accolades in 2011 for a double whammy with The Dirty Picture and No One Killed Jessica, Vidya is back with her next film Kahani, which promises another power-packed performance and she is no leaving no stone unturned to ensure that she is perfect to the hilt. Vidya has proved how she stands out as an actress with her homework and preparation.

Now according to our sources, Vidya wanted to take some time off to get into the skin of her character for Kahani. She wanted to break away from the image of Silk before she got back on the sets of Kahani. Apparently, she decided to check into a local lodge in Kolkata to get the feel of a woman who is looking for her husband. Incidentally, this was soon after the release of The Dirty Picture. “She wanted to feel the emotions of the character she essays in the film which is that of a pregnant woman looking for her lost husband in Kolkata. The angst, helplessness and desperation could only come through by disconnecting herself from the world of glamour,” says our source. Vidya spent almost two and a half weeks in a room in the lodge to get rid of Silk and imbibe the nature of her character in Kahani. “The only person who stayed with her was her man Friday,” reveals her spokesperson.
After long weeks of preparation, Vidya’s quest for perfection paid off. While the world was raving about her acting prowess in The Dirty Picture, she had moved on. “Vidya was never the type to rest on her laurels. It requires sheer guts to give up the luxuries of a five-star hotel and move into a random lodge. The most difficult part was to conceal her identity,” says our source.
