Over 60 thatched houses, mostly belonging to sex workers, were on Thursday gutted in a major fire at Malisahi area here, police said.
There was, however, no loss of life, though property worth about Rs10 lakh was estimated to have been damaged in the fire. Police were investigating the cause of the fire.
This was the sixth fire incident in the area during the past two and half years. The district administration announced a seven-day relief with temporary accommodation for the affected women, police said.
