The Akali Dal-BJP combine is not only fighting against their political adversaries in the forthcoming elections to capture the power in Punjab, but has also history to fight with as no incumbent government has ever repeated in the state so far. It is to be seen whether development as poll plank used by Akalis to retain the power would be enough to change the history in the elections.
Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal are trying hard to make development as the main agenda in its rallies and public meetings so far. They are projecting that Punjab has made unprecedented development under this regime. With elections scheduled for January 30, it will be interesting to see that the issue of development will be able to ensure victory for the SAD-BJP combine in the Assembly elections and defy the history to return them to power.
However, despite their tall claims about the development in their regime, Akalis have couple of issues bothering their campaign.
