As the Rajasthan doctors' stir entered the sixth day today, a doctor-turned IPS officer has come to the rescue of needy patients providing them medical help in Jhalawar district.
S.P. Ravi, a 2007 batch IPS officer who served as a government doctor in Delhi for six years, is offering medical assistance to patients in the wake of the strike which has thrown health services out of gear in the state.
"Since the situation is worsening, I attended to patients as a doctor.
"I will continue to render help to the patients at the Sadar Police Station till the strike is off," Ravi, an alumnus of Maulana Azad Medical College in Delhi, said.
"I attended to around 15 to 20 patients from 9 am to 11 am today and wrote prescriptions for them. If I have the ability, why not use it in public interest," he said.
The doctors in the state are on warpath demanding pay hike and time-bound promotions.
