The Orissa government has decided to form a separate micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) department by bifurcating the industry department to pay focused attention on the development of the micro, small and medium enterprise sector.
The proposal, which was pending for quite some time finally got the nod of the state Cabinet on Saturday.
In yet another important decision, the Cabinet approved a proposal to provide 0.6 acre of land for acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Patnaik in pilgrim city Puri.
The Cabinet also amended its land lease policy. As per the amended features, hence forward the tenure of lease of government land for infrastructure projects like highways, ports, energy installations and water supply would be reduced to 25-30 years from the present 99 years under built-operate-and-transfer (BOT) mode.
The land will be allotted to the developer on payment of annual lease rental amount equal to ground rent at one per cent and cess at 0.75 per cent of the benchmark value plus five per cent of the premium under Industrial Policy Resolution (IPR), 2007 during the concessional period.
In another major decision, the Cabinet decided to introduce e-transit to licencees and mineowners to make the transportation of minerals more stringent and check illegal movement of minerals.
The Cabinet also okayed an amendment to suitable laws for extending the benefit of interest subsidy to the new industrial units under the Prime Minister Rozgar Yojana, Rural Employment Guarantee Programme and Prime Minister’s Employment Guarantee Programme on term loan availed from financial institutions and banks.
