Office-bearers and workers of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) were taken aback, when a newly-married couple, right after tying the knot, came straight to the place, where the partymen were holding interviews to select candidates for upcoming polls in Thane.
The couple, Ganesh G. Walke and his wife Seema, who came straight from the wedding hall, had not even taken off the bridal-wear, when he appeared for an interview along with his wife.
Nearly 300 aspirants appeared for the interview before the MNS panel that comprised Bala Nandgaonkar, Ram Kadam, Shishir Shinde, Shirish Parkar, Shalini Thackeray, Niteen Sardesai, Pravin Darekar, Manoj Chavan and Sudhakar Chavan. The interviews for the two assembly segments of Thane city and Kopri Panchpakadi on Wednesday. MNS leaders were present.
Talking to this correspondent here on Wednesday, the party spokesman Rajan Gawand said that the party had received as many as 600 applications from aspirants for the 130 seats in 65 segments of the city for the forthcoming elections.
All the applicants will be interviewed and shortlisted and will have to appear for a written examination on December 4.
