Finally, the legendary composer and music maestro Naushad Ali, has something to commemorate his memory in his hometown.
The house where Naushad was born in Lucknow has been declared a protected monument and the haveli is also a part of the 36-point Heritage Walk of Lucknow.
“The music director is now a legend and Lucknow was always in his heart so we decided to declare this haveli as a protected monument and include in the Heritage Walk so that people can know that this is where Naushad was born and it was here that he spent his early years,” says Vinod Singh, minister of state for tourism.

Johnny Depp saves friend from mugger
London: Johnny Depp turned saviour for British singer Stephen Jones, who was accosted for cash by a man as they left a recording studio in Los Angeles.
The Alice In Wonderland actor, 46, stepped forward when the thief demanded money from Jones threatening him with a broken bottle, Sun reported online.
“It was an extremely scary moment. This guy looked off his head. Johnny looked him straight in the eyes and told him to back off,” a friend of Jones said. The Pirates of the Caribbean star is a big music buff and had just recorded a guitar solo for a new track by Jones’s band Babybird.
When Depp intervened, the star-struck man backed down, saying he would not rob the actor. —PTI

US Army’s GaGa spoof a YouTube hit
London: A hilarious recreation of Lady GaGa’s controversial video Telephone by a group of US soldiers posted in Afghanistan has become a hit on YouTube.
The video which was filmed by soldiers of the 82nd Airborne Division inside a garage with costumes made of tape and belts, received 155,355 views in the first day, reported Daily Mail online.
The footage is performed mainly by two soldiers who take on the roles of Lady GaGa and Beyonce as they do an energetic and intricate routine. The pair alternates between wearing their standard camouflage uniforms and GaGa-inspired outfits for group scenes which also stars fellow soldiers. —PTI
