It seems it has become mandatory for Delhi University to introduce next-generation systems to simplify thousands of aspirants’ admission-related queries. Every year, whether it’s helplines, blogs or on the spot counselling, the country’s largest academia has
always tried to assist aspirants in the best possible manner. And keeping in mind, this summer’s scorching heat (which can easily drain all your enthusiasm to be a part of the prestigious university), the 88-year-old institution has decided to answer thousands of aspirants’ queries via web chat, which they would be able to access sitting at home.
“We have always tried to give our best whenever there is a need. And considering Delhi University’s wide repertoire of courses and the ever-increasing number of applicants, we can understand the confusions that applicants usually come across. And this service is exclusively to minimise such disorientations,” opined Dr S.K. Vij, dean of Delhi University Students Welfare. The first day of the service took place last Friday for an hour, and as informed by sources in the University, experts received approximately 200 queries from aspirants asking questions ranging from application procedures to course details. “The principle of College of Business Studies too was present with other faculty members in the panel of experts,” said Dr Vij.
“I am glad Delhi University is going hi-tech. After all being the largest university in the country, it should have such services to ease admission-related confusions among aspirants. But the sad part is that we never had such services when we applied for our seats,” said Samridhhi Tanti, third year student of Miranda College.
When asked if the University is thinking about offering any other special service to the aspirants this year, Dr Vij said, “Yes, of course. Considering Delhi Metro’s completion and the coming CWG, we would have the entire map of Delhi Metro printed in our information pamphlets.”
The service has been powered and conceptualised by the Computer Center of Delhi University.
